The Green in the centre of Leigh village is a beautiful open space much enjoyed by residents and visitors. A lot of work goes into keeping The Green well maintained.
Annual tasks include:
- Mowing and strimming
- Rolling
- Vertidraining
- Seeding
- Soil conditioning including weedkilling and fertilising using approved and widely-used, non-toxic, products
- Tree inspections and tree work
- Care of our benches, including repairs where necessary and oiling
- Repairing the damage created by vehicles being driven on the edges of the grass
If any spraying of The Green is planned, we will advise residents on our social media pages. Any work will be done on a still, dry day, early in the morning, and all products used are non-toxic and safe for pedestrians and pets.
We would ask residents and visitors to please be respectful and friendly to our contractors working on The Green, both on the cricket square and the wider area. Much of this work is done on a voluntary basis working in close conjunction with the Parish Council. Thank you.
